  Unable to provide me with a letter saying my account is closed. Do not go with Gem if you plan on purchasing a home as the banks will require this and they refuse to provide it.
  
  Further more, It takes 2 days for a simple 15 second email to be sent. I’ve had thing shipped across the country faster then that.
  
  Worse company in existence never recommended them to anyone. No wonder they can’t keep anyone’s data safe.

  They have technical problems where they can not see my payments so they charge late payment fees . I never missed a payment yet they tell me on the phone there is months worth of missed payments . I got way overcharged. When i called them to get information on my account i got nowhere . These guys running a scam . In the end i just closed my account with these people . Other family members had the same problems with gem visa

  Poison that’s how I would describe this company! Terrible customer service get told 3-5 days for allocations and still nothing have to phone up constantly! Can’t get speaking to anyone in New Zealand! Total disgrace of a company will be cutting my card up once everything is sorted!

  Gem’s customer service is so bad.
  I have spent almost three weeks trying to get answers from them and to correct my account details over the phone.
  To begin, I applied for a top-up of 5k and got 10k payed into my bank account instead. It was a system error on their part and affected my account details.
  I paid the extra 5k back to their set bank account and I can confirm they have received this payment through my Gem online portal where I check loan details and transactions (however this payment was reversed, but I am yet to see the 5k payment bounce back to my account- again it’s a system error).Now I have the issue of my loan amount and repayments being assessed at 10k therefore my repayments are more than the agreed amount I signed for in my contract.
  The common answer I would get was ‘a job has been lodged for someone to contact you today’ ….I only got one call back (from the credit line) but the rest of my requests for call back were ignored.
  Do not get a loan with Gem, it’s easy enough to get the loan but to get your account corrected, statements, transactions details etc is a nightmare. There has also been a privacy breach on their part, i asked for statements from January-July 2023 (can’t provide recent statements due to technical issues) and they sent me someone else’s statement from Hamilton. They are careless with our information and they have had an information leak from hackers recently. Consider this as a warning do not get a loan with them.

  Closed an old account back in 2020. Got a letter in 2023 that I had a credit and that they wanted to return it to me.
  
  However in the meantime I had opened a new account with them to take advantage of an interest free promotion. So I asked that the old credit be transferred to the new account
  
  30th August 2023 1st call, the caller got the amount transferred to someone else’s account. She was very horrible to deal with and I actually feel as though she may have done this on purpose.
  
  6 September 2023 2nd call, this is where I was told the funds were transferred to someone else’s account. This person apologised and assure me
  
  he had made the necessary steps to have the transaction reversed and applied to my account.
  
  18th September 3rd Call, I realised the credit was not showing on my account. Called again, customer rep advised the last person didn’t complete the process properly. He apparently did it correctly and assure me to allow 5 working days and it would be showing in my account.
  
  2nd October CREDIT STILL NOW SHOWING. This in my 4th call!!!!!! Same story, again, someone had not competed the process. I asked if I could have in writing that this amount would be credited in 5 workings days. Caller said this was not allowed as they are not able to contact clients directly via email. Assured me the process had been completed correctly.
  
  1st November 2023. STILL NOT SHOWING ON MY ACCOUNT. What is going on? If the shoe was on the other foot and I owed GEM this amount I would’ve been penalised for it.
  
  I expect compensation for my wasted time. I have filed a complaint twice via their process on their website and what do you know? Nothing. Absolutely appalled at the poor customer service I’ve received.
