  We drove into the Mercury Motor Inn at Wagga and if I had obeyed my first instinct I would have driven straight out again. It was 11.30pm and we had been driving for 15 hours. The 72 dollar room (no 2) was oppressively hot and after the air conditioner had made 1degree difference to the temperature after an hour's operation we turned it down low and attempted to sleep. Apart from the oppressive heat the room was tiny and had interesting features like the paint spattered wooden floor being uneven and putting one of the beds on a 10 degree slope. The midget sized fridge was sitting on the floor on a couple of carpet mats. The bathroom door, although recently painted, was disintegrating at the bottom hinge, the toilet bowl had visible reminders of previous visitors, the ancient vanity basin with its peeling Formica was pulling away from the wall leaving the extra thick grouting in a state of limbo. The loose and displaced 50's era floor tiles sloping up to the wall complemented the elderly shower cubicle with a dirty looking shower curtain. The only ventilation in the room was a row of vertical louvres, impossible to move, above an enormous fixed glass window behind a grubby curtain. The dingy sagging screen door didn't close which didn't really matter as it had no lock. Even though we were exhausted after our long drive, when my son found that we could be home in 3 hours we packed up and left as we had previously paid. The motel owners had been polite and courteous on the phone and the room was certainly cheap - suspiciously cheap. I will never again book into a motel without reading the reviews first, even if this motel was 30 dollars a night I still wouldn't stay there. So, do the research or you'll regret it.

  Air-con unit was really noisy!
  The room was not the cleanest... it was OK since it was the only pet-friendly Motels mid-way from Melbourne to Sydney.
  They charge us 15$ more for our small dog and there were no breakfast.

  Not worth the amount I am being charged. Run down, mediocre, untidy and on the outskirts of town. A lick of paint and a flat screen TV does not make a renovated room. Only out of necessity do I entertain these people with my polite but tongue biting demeanor. Would not pay more than 100 a night for this. I will be glad to leave and the crack of dawn come Monday!

  Nice and quiet small family run business. Owners were lovely to deal with, both in person and over the phone. Rooms were simple and adequate.

  Thanks so much to Pooja and her family for being so welcoming and providing us with a lovely stay. Our kids had a great time, including a swim in the pool. Rooms were clean and more than acceptable for the price. Looking forward to seeing the renovations next time we stay!
