It's basically like staying at your eccentric elderly maiden aunt's place, but with 60inch flatscreen televisions. The people are friendly but it's faded, dated and dusty. Signs everywhere telling you what not to do. The claim to fame of 'five stars'... I am wondering precisely what criteria makes it that. It may simply be what is offered as far as amenities. It's creepy and depressing. Before arrival emails sent with documents pages long that are not only repetitive but constantly asking for reviews on Trip Adviser. I wouldn't go back nor would I recommend it but it may be your thing. Please check my other reviews to see how positive and generous I usually am.

Wonderful cosy and comfy bed, port and chocolate by the fire after dinner, tasty breakfast served with style by Heidi in an amazing room. Family tapestries adorn some of the walls and they are amazing too. We were fortunate Heidi’s sister Helen was visiting from Melbourne and we enjoyed our conversations with her and learning some of Beechworth and the buildings history. We will be back!

My husband and I went up there for 2 nights for our mini moon. We were so well fed and rested under their care. We are so grateful for all those wonderful chats too. Absolutely a place to go back!
